Team Walmart / SAM'S Club

In 2007, Walmart raised and contributed more than $1 million for the American Diabetes Association—through Associate Giving, Matching Grants, raising funds and volunteerism. Again this year, Walmart and SAM'S Club locations will participate in local fund-raising opportunities, including the American Diabetes Association's Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes. This walk event, held in locations around the country, supports people affected by type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

We are excited to partner with the ADA as a National Team and encourage all locations to participate in this wonderful volunteer opportunity. While participating in your communities, don't forget to wear the Walmart Community Volunteer Tee shirt. Remember, volunteer events consisting of more than 5 associates may qualify for Event VAP. Consider starting a team at your location: being a Team Captain is easy and fun! The Team Captain Instructions provide all of the information you need to get started right now. There is also a Participant Guide to distribute to your teammates.

If you have participated in Step Out in previous years, or one of the other American Diabetes Association signature events (Tour de Cure, School Walk for Diabetes or Rip's B.A.D. Ride), log in with your old username and password prior to registering. (If you do not have/remember this information, click on "Forgot Your Password?" at the top-right corner of the screen to have the information e-mailed to you.)

* Team Captains: Click the "Participate in an event" link below, select Start new team beside your event of choice, then be sure to select Walmart/SAM'S Club from the National Team pull-down menu when prompted.
* Walkers: Click the "Participate in an event" link below. Then, beside your event of choice, click "Join existing team." Enter the team's name (if you know it) and/or the National Team into the fields, and click Search for a Team. When the team appears at the bottom of the screen under Search Results, click Join to the right of it.

If your location is unable to participate in an event, or there isn't an event scheduled close to you, there are other ways to get involved. Your location can contribute to ADA through Matching and Community Grants as well. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our customers, fellow associates and friends affected by type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
